To me, Arlington cemetery best describes Memorial Day and the meaning of the holiday. I know Memorial Day is often celebrated with bbq dinners, going up north and pool parties, but it’s so important we teach our children while they are young, what the day is really all about. It’s a day reverence and homage, regardless of your personal satisfaction with the current state of our government. Always keep the two separate and honor the soldiers who gave their lives for you and me.
If you haven’t visited the Arlington cemetery just outside of Washington DC, and in particular, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, it’s moving, grounding and chilling. There will be no place like that for a patriotic heart and I hope it’s on your bucket list.
Rest in peace to all the soldiers who have passed and may you rest in eternal happiness with our Father. Thank you for your dedicated service and ultimate sacrifice.
